Crystal Portals

Picture to add: a crystal portal frame with a Book Receptacle and an open portal

Building the frame

  • Build a ring of Crystal blocks around an opening. It can stand upright, facing either way, or lie flat on the floor.
  • The corners may be left open.
  • The opening must be at least 3 x 3 inside, and at most 64 blocks across.
  • Every side must be crystal. Any other block in the frame stops it working.

Opening the portal

  • Mount a Book Receptacle on any crystal of the frame.
  • Give it a Linking Book or a Descriptive Book. The opening fills with a link portal to that book's destination.
  • Take the book back and the portal closes.

Getting crystal

Crystal comes from ages written with Crystalline Formations. Mine it with a pickaxe. It gives off light.
